ܫܠܡܐ! We are Suraye Educational Collective!
Mission: Beginning in January 2024, Suraye Educational Collective (formerly Suraye Inclusion at the University Level) was founded to promote the awareness, recognition, and preservation of Assyrian (Chaldean/Syriac) history, culture, and identity through educational initiatives. By fostering dialogue and awareness, we aim to ensure that the contributions and struggles of the Assyrian people are never forgotten. From the beginning, SEC was founded on the backbone of advocacy through education, and we’re adamant that by acknowledging our shared background, we can make a greater difference for the community!
Our Vision is to create a world where Assyrians are equally recognized and valued within the broader SWANA (Southwest Asian and North African) community and where their history, language, and contributions are an integral part of global academic and cultural discussions.
We achieve this vision by encompassing the following Values:
1. Education – We believe in the power of education to illuminate forgotten histories and to inspire positive change for the future.
2. Advocacy – We are committed to advocating for the recognition and inclusion of Assyrians, ensuring their voices are heard and their contributions acknowledged.
3. Unity – By fostering a shared understanding of Assyrian history and culture, we aim to build bridges both within and beyond the Assyrian community.
4. Inclusivity – We welcome all individuals interested in learning about Assyrians, regardless of background, and strive to promote a diverse and inclusive environment.
5. Perseverance – Inspired by the resilience of the Assyrian people, we are determined to continue our efforts despite any challenges, knowing that meaningful change takes time and dedication.
Suraye Educational Collective is registered with 501(c)3 status in the United States as of February 2025.
